How to Manage Wedding Planning Stress

MANAGE WEDDING PLANNING STRESS

WITH FIVE QUICK TIPS

Let's face it, planning a wedding can be hard. With everything there is to keep track of, from pre-wedding parties to vendor meetings and more, it is easy to get overwhelmed. We get it!

But what if we told you it didn't have to be so stressful?  First and foremost, consider hiring a planner to take over all those not-so-fun details like contracts, scheduling meetings, and more. And while they sweat the small stuff, you can focus on managing your own stress that arises while planning such a special day. Scroll on for our tips on ways to minimize the burden of wedding planning!

1. Be Open & Honest

It's okay to be stressed out or frustrated. No matter what you're feeling, don’t bottle it up. Lean on your family and friends, or talk to your coordinator, to help clear your head. If you need a break from planning, then take one (see tip No. 5).

Your engagement is a time that should be cherished between you and your future spouse, so express your feelings, and don't try to tackle this alone.

2. Be Flexible & Prioritize

Sit down with your partner and make sure you're on the same page with your non-negotiables. Maybe it's having a band instead of a DJ, or including unique experiences like a tarot card reader. This will be a huge help down the road if you're trying to stay within a budget. Be ready and willing to make concessions on some things that aren’t a top priority for you.

Be flexible when it comes to things that are beyond your control. To reduce stress, try to focus only on the things within your circle of influence. Remember, your wedding is so much more than just a day; it’s about marrying your best friend.

3. Communication Is Key

Keep your event team and vendors completely involved throughout the process. Good communication is crucial to relieving stress and avoiding any unnecessary confusion.

If you haven’t already, create a wedding website to keep family and friends updated throughout your journey. Reach out to your wedding party, or anyone playing a role in your wedding, so there is a clear understanding on each end as to what changes have been made.

4. Get Enough Sleep

Planning a wedding can feel like a second job because, well... it is! If you find yourself staying up late scrolling Pinterest and checking items off of your to-do list, we recommend you put away your device of choice and indulge in some sweet sleep.

If you're having trouble falling asleep, try revisiting tips No. 1 and 3. Be open, honest, and communicate. Talk to your partner, friends, or family when you're feeling overwhelmed. Maybe you need someone to bounce ideas off of or you need a little validation to remind you it's okay to be stressed out. Whatever it may be, surround yourself with loved ones who are there to support you!

5. Take a Break & Practice Some Self-Care

It can be easy to get caught up in the planning process, but don't forget to take care of yourself. Some easy ways to practice self-care are to keep a regular exercise schedule, eat a well-balanced diet, try relaxation techniques like yoga, or start journaling.

If your stress and anxiety feels unmanageable, consider talking to a therapist. There are plenty of online resources to help get you started. You got this!
