Five Tips for a Rainy Wedding Day

Kelsey and Dylan's Rainy Wedding Day
Five simple tips to get through a rainy-day wedding.

HELLO SPRING

5 TIPS FOR RAIN ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

We all know that spring is a time for warmer weather and new blooms, but with that comes plenty of showers. We also know that Mother Nature is nothing we can change no matter how contingent your plan is, so it's best to be prepared, whether that's with a tent that's ready and waiting or keeping an extra pair of rain boots on standby. Plus, some cultures see rain on your wedding day as a sign of good luck!

Don't let the gloomy weather get you down on your special day. Scroll on for our tips for a rainy wedding day with inspiration from our real weddings!

1. Have a venue backup plan.

If any part of your wedding is going to be held outdoors, it's essential to have a backup plan. This could mean leaving space in your budget for a tent or having a space to move indoors.

If you're worried about sacrificing the feel of the outdoors, it's easy to transform any indoor space to have an al fresco feel with some lighting and loads of greenery. Don't believe us? Check out a few of our real weddings below.

2. Get some killer photos.

Let's be honest, we all want the perfect wedding day photos, and you would be surprised at some of the amazing shots you can capture in the rain!

When choosing a photographer, make sure they know how to shoot in the rain and have plenty of experience, especially if you're planning a spring wedding.

3. Pack an umbrella.

Most importantly, it's best to keep dry! No matter if the weather report calls for rain or not, be prepared and bring umbrellas. Better yet, bring matching ones for your full wedding party so it looks perfectly planned.

Clear umbrellas are probably your best bet for wedding photos because they won't clash with your colors or cast a shadow over your face, although we can't help but love the fun, colorful alternative.

4. Keep your feet dry.

Swap out your high heels for a more comfortable and dry option like rain boots. Rain boots can be both functional and fashionable when it comes to keeping your feet dry. With such a large array of color options and styles, you can have fun while personalizing your rainy wedding day look. Not to mention, this would be a great bridal party gift.

But if you don't love the rain boot look, opt for another option that keeps your feet covered, like sneakers.

5. Let it go and dance in the rain.

It's understandable to be upset if it starts to rain on your wedding day, but acknowledge it, breathe, and let it go.

Remember the day is not about the weather. It's about you marrying your best friend, so it's important to be present because the day will fly by.

Here are some wise words from one of our past brides: "The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain."
