Five Things to Remember on Your Wedding Day

Tiffany and Her Bridesmaids at The Bridge Building

DON'T FORGET

FIVE TIPS FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY

In the middle of this busy wedding season, we wanted to share five things we think are important to remember on your big day!

We know, the day has finally come, and you can’t wait to kiss your partner at the end of the aisle and dance the night away after months (maybe years!) of planning. But hear us out: You will be so focused on your day that some things may slip through the cracks! So here are a few tips to keep in mind just in case.

Stay tuned each month for more ideas & advice from our professional point of view!

1. What to Bring

If you’re a traditional bride, make sure you have something old, new, borrowed, and blue safely packed and ready to go. Along with those items, you’ll want to bring anything meaningful your photographer could use for layouts and detail shots.

Additionally, pack an extra change of clothes and/or shoes in case you feel like slipping into something more comfortable at the end of the night. But hey, if you can last all day in those high heels, more power to you!

And let's not forget an emergency bag that can be easily accessible! Prep it with a first aid kit, deodorant, safety pins, 5-hour Energy, Tide To Go pen, and sample-sizes of your makeup and hair products. You name it, you might need it!

2. When to Eat

Find time before your ceremony to have a real meal. You’ll spend most of your day getting ready, capturing memories, and visiting with your guests, so sitting down to eat could easily become a forgotten thought. Feeding your body is important to keep your mind at ease, ensure you don’t feel fatigued, and most importantly, keep you from becoming too lightheaded! Trust us, no one wants to be the internet bride who passed out during their ceremony.

You might even consider planning to have snacks around while you and your wedding party get ready! Having something readily available to munch on is a game changer.

However, if you’ve been on a strict diet or eliminated certain foods, try not to indulge in those items or your body could react negatively. And stay away from drinking too much caffeine! You’ll have enough wedding day jitters without it!

3. Who to Assign

Designate members of your wedding party or someone in attendance for day-of tasks that you won’t be able to or want to have handled for you. It could be anything from keeping up with your phone and other personal items, holding your rings before the ceremony, or taking care of your bouquet when you won’t be holding it.

If you opted out of a wedding day coordinator, you should assign a point of contact for things like emergencies, your vendors, and even someone to help keep your wedding party together and where they need to be.

4. How to be Present

Your wedding day will go by in a blink, so don’t forget to be present in every moment! In order to do so, make sure to get a good night's sleep the night before so you can wake up early, journal, put on a face mask, do some yoga, or any morning routine that will help start your day off right.

Your planner will likely have a timeline already in place to keep the rest of your day in order, so relax and let them handle keeping all your ducks in a row! This way you can stay focused on getting married surrounded by your loved ones and taking in every moment.

And again, if you opted out of having a wedding day coordinator, then prepare the day’s timeline in advance so your wedding party, vendors, and anyone else involved knows what to do, where to be, and when so you can focus on yourself and your soon-to-be spouse.

And don’t forget to take a moment to breathe! It’s your wedding day; you deserve all the me-time you need.

5. What to Expect

One of the most important things to remember on your wedding day is that everything might not go as planned. It could be a minor detail or a major change, but if it is something you can’t control and your guests are still having fun, then let it slide!

Emotions will be running high because it’s such a meaningful day, so try not to worry about any issues that arise and let your planner or someone else handle it!

After all, the wedding day is about celebrating the love between you and your partner, so embrace the happy tears, don’t sweat the small stuff, and take in every moment.
