Employee Spotlight: Molly Peters

A Q&A WITH MOLLY PETERS

EVENT COORDINATOR WITH IH

Molly grew up in a rural town in Maryland and attended a local community college to study event management and hotel lodging. As early as she can remember, Molly has always loved being creative and designing small get-togethers for friends and family, which later turned into the love she has for this industry.

In January 2021, she made the move to Nashville to begin working with us as an event coordinator. Before that, she worked for a historic venue in Maryland, managing the corporate and social events. Her attention to detail and creativity are part of what make her such an asset to our team!

Outside of work, Molly loves spending time at our local Sixty Vines with her friends and hanging with her sister. And let’s not forget her ability to sew, which is always helpful for any fashion emergencies on the big day!

Read on to learn more about Molly’s experience as an event coordinator.

How long have you been a planner?

I have been in the hospitality industry for six years and a planner for four!

Where do you draw inspiration from?

I draw inspiration from my co-workers. I find everybody is very talented and always has a unique touch on [things] that I can learn from!

How do you stay on top of everything? Any organizational tips or tricks?

I love being organized!! I love to write to-do lists and having a calendar always keeps me in check on what is happening.

What themes or unique details have been your favorite from one of your events?

I've had an event with a live painter. I really enjoyed seeing the start and finished product after a few hours with all the special moments captured.

If you could give one piece of advice to couples planning a wedding what would it be?

Find time on your wedding day as a couple to soak everything in!

What are some of the challenges you face when planning an event and how do you overcome them?

When planning an event I often have brides who overthink their vision and want to change it. I overcome this by showing them inspiration on how it will look the day-of to ensure there is no reason to overthink and their original vision is beautiful!

What is one of your favorite memories from one of your events?

We had a couple who rented a donkey for their event. Everybody loved it!!

What’s your favorite part about your job?

I love to be a part of someone's special day and watching their vision come to life! Seeing their smile and/ or happy tears makes it all worth it!
