Currently Crushing: Unique Florals

Colorful Garden-Inspired Wedding Reception Setup

BLOSSOMING TRENDS

OUR FAVORITE UNIQUE FLORALS

Inspired by the latest wedding trends of 2021, we wanted to dive a little deeper into one of our current crushes — unique florals.

From fluffy pampas grass to breaking the tradition of white and green, flowers can be an essential part of creating a design for any event. They are influential to setting the mood and adding a little (or a whole lotta!) personality.

Stay tuned for what wedding trends we're currently crushing and scroll on for Pinterest-worthy floral inspiration from our real weddings!

1. Pampas

First up is, of course, the beloved pampas grass that we have all seen take over weddings. Whether it’s fluffed or dried, neutral or painted, pampas stands tall among other traditional wedding florals.

In a bouquet, centerpiece, or floating install, pampas makes a dramatic impact with minimal effort, and there are countless ways to incorporate it into your wedding day.

Like Lauren + Michael and Courtney + Dalton’s weddings featured below, pampas grass was incorporated into their ceremony decor to dress up the altar on the rooftop of the Bridge Building.

2. Tropical

We’re seeing so many themes this year, and one of the biggest? Tropical!

The bright greens and bold flowers of the tropics have inspired our brides to create striking bouquets and floral arrangements, with palm leaves and protea taking center stage.

Abi + Jeffrey used tropical greenery for her bouquet, to line the aisle of their ceremony, and in centerpieces to carry the tropical vibes into the reception.

3. Dried

Dried flowers are definitely in the spotlight! From the decor to the bouquet, they are a great way to break from tradition and add some texture to your arrangements.

Not to mention, dried florals can amplify both a modern and romantic style, be a little more eco-friendly, more cost-effective, and they will last forever!

Courtney + Dalton used dried flowers in the groom’s boutonniere and wedding decor like Chelsey + Parker‘s dried thistle centerpieces.

4. Alternative

Not into florals? No biggie! Go the alternative route with full greenery. Potted cacti or magnolia leaves create a foam-free design with just as much of an impact on the overall look and feel of your wedding.

You can take this alternative design to frame your altar, line your tables, or create a photo backdrop!

And on the practical side, you could use the potted plant decor as party favors or take them home to plant in your yard as a lasting memory.

5. Color

After 2020, we’re all looking to have a little more fun. Why not express that through your color palette? Big, bright blooms are making their way through every season, and we bet 2021 won’t be the end of it.

From monochromatic floral arrangements to including every shade in the color wheel, you can expect to see a lot more couples opting out of the traditional white and green arrangements for more mood-boosting designs.

Julia + Ivan’s wedding was simple and classic, but her sunset-inspired florals created a perfect pop of bright color with soft orange, pinks, and peach blooms.
