MY HOUSE OF STONE, YOUR IVY GROWS

How to Have a Folklore-Inspired Wedding

Planning a wedding inspired by one of Taylor Swift’s eras is a unique and fun way to celebrate your love for her music and style. Ethereal and whimsical, Taylor’s Folklore and Evermore era is characterized by earth tones, cottagecore style, and woodland fairy vibes. Drawing inspiration from the dreamy woodland aesthetic, poetic storytelling, and stripped-down melodies of Folklore, you can create an unforgettable wedding that exudes intimacy and romance. For all the Folklore stans, here’s our take on how to have a Folklore-inspired wedding.

1. STYLE

The Folklore era is all about embracing simplicity and natural beauty. Opt for a wedding gown that exudes a bohemian and romantic vibe, perhaps featuring delicate lace or flowing chiffon. For the groom, consider a more relaxed and laid-back outfit, like a tailored tweed suit paired with a casual tie or bowtie. Accessorize with woodland-inspired touches, such as flower crowns, leaf motifs, or ethereal headpieces. For the outerwear, we suggest a cardigan of course! Wear your Folklore cardigan or have fun and personalize your own with custom patches. Here are some of our top picks.

2. DECOR

Embrace whimsical decor that complements the Folklore and Evermore eras. Incorporate elements like fairy lights, soft draping, and vintage furniture to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Use natural elements like wildflowers, ferns, and moss to bring the outdoor feel indoors, and don’t forget to add touches of muted earthy tones and soft neutrals in your decor.

For day-of signage, use antique frames and mirrors with hand-lettered messages guiding your guests through the celebration. Incorporate quotes from Taylor Swift’s songs to set the tone and infuse your wedding with a poetic touch. Mirror balls can be incorporated on the dance floor or used as a focal point during the ceremony.

3. MUSIC

Incorporate acoustic versions of her songs or live performances for an intimate and emotional ambiance. If possible, hire a folk band or acoustic musicians to play during your ceremony or reception to add an extra layer of authenticity. For ideas, check out our Eras-Inspired Wedding playlist on Spotify.

4. WEDDING FAVORS

Thank your guests with personalized wedding favors inspired by Folklore. Offer small potted plants, seeds, or wildflower kits, symbolizing the growth and blooming of your love. Include a handwritten note expressing your gratitude for being a part of your love story.

I’d Marry You with Paper Rings

HOW TO HAVE A LOVER-INSPIRED WEDDING

Having a wedding inspired by one of Taylor Swift’s eras can be a unique and fun way to celebrate your love for her music and style. In honor of her Eras Tour, we’re highlighting some of our favorites and how to incorporate them into your wedding day.

Dreamy, romantic, and fun, Taylor’s Lover era is characterized by vibrant colors and sparkle. For all the Lover stans, here’s our take on how to have a Lover-inspired wedding.

1. STYLE

Each era has its own unique color palette. The Lover era is so distinctive, we say ditch the traditional white and embrace color for your wedding weekend style. Here are some of our top picks.

Infinity Pro Tip: Discuss the shot list with your photographer and make sure they know you want every outfit change captured. Assign a wedding party member or a friend to ensure you get every shot you want. They’ll bring you your heart-shaped sunglasses, make sure you have your silly straw while getting ready, and ensure you and your photographer step out during the reception for a mini-session in your reception dress.

2. DECOR

The “Lover” era is all about romance, color, and whimsy. Incorporate these elements into your wedding decor with fairy lights and flowers to create a magical and enchanting atmosphere. Opt for abundant and colorful floral arrangements. Our couple Sarah + Joseph let their colorful florals speak for themselves and paired them with all-white linens. For more color, think about adding colored napkins, china, or glassware.

Add some sparkle with disco balls on the dance floor, fairy lights or twinkle lights during dinner, and sequined linens on your cake or sweetheart tables. Metallic tinsel fringe can also be used to dress up the bar or for a photo booth backdrop.

3. MUSIC

What would an eras-inspired wedding be without a playlist full of Taylor Swift hits? Just because you’re drawing decor and style inspiration from a single era, don’t feel like you have to stick to one album for your playlist. Choose songs based on what resonates with you and your partner the most. You can also include covers or acoustic versions for a unique twist. Here are some of our Lover-era picks:

  1. Walk down the aisle to an instrumental version of “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.”
  2. Dance down the aisle with your partner by your side to “Paper Rings.”
  3. Make a grand entrance into your reception with “ME!”
  4. Take your first spin as a married couple to “Lover” for your first dance.

Your playlist isn’t the only way to incorporate some of your favorite Lover lyrics. Lyrics can be incorporated throughout the reception. Our couple Sarah + Patrick incorporated them with a neon sign hanging on their photo booth backdrop while Anna Lee + Justin included lyrics at each table.

Remember, the key is to have fun and infuse your wedding with elements that represent your love for Taylor Swift’s music and style so personalize the details to make the day uniquely yours. Stay tuned for more eras-inspired wedding ideas.

BRING IT TO THE TABLE

OUR FAVORITE PATTERNED LINENS

Linens are an essential part of any event and instantly set the scene from the minute your guests arrive. Your tables are where a lot of the main action goes down, so you'll want to take the opportunity to have a little fun and really make them shine!

There to protect furniture from stains and spills, linens are not only aesthetically pleasing but functional as well. Available in endless colors, patterns, fabrics, and sizes, we love seeing which ones our clients pick and how they contribute to their overall design, no matter the vibe.

While our linen love is always strong, we're currently crushing on stylish patterned prints. We love that they bring even more depth and dimension to the table — pun most definitely intended.

Scroll on to get inspired by some of our favorite patterned linens from real weddings.

1. Printed Napkins

Not a fan of throwing linens on every table? Let your furniture speak for itself and add a patterned accent napkin for simple, no-fuss style.

From French country inspired napkins provided by La Tavola Linen to black and white gingham napkins from Liberty Party Rental, the options are endless.

No matter the theme you're envisioning for your special day, make a major impact by adding a patterned linen to every table.

We have major heart eyes for these sheer, geometric ivory linens from Over The Top.

Not to mention, these rich black linens with shimmering metallic accents from BBJ Linen adding effortless drama and sophistication to Stephanie and Drew's modern glam wedding reception at The Bridge Building.

3. Accent Tables

Love patterned linens but afraid of committing to every single table? No sweat!

Opt for solid linens in the color of your choice and pick complementary patterned linens for your decor tables instead.

We love accenting the dessert table or guest book table for a fun and unexpected pop!

WE CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW

OUR FAVORITE ACRYLIC & LUCITE DETAILS

Starting out as a prominent trend in home decor, we're thrilled to see acrylic and lucite details have made their way into weddings and events.

Since our clients are oh-so-chic, we're currently crushing on all the ways they've taken this translucent trend and made it their own.

From welcome signage to escort cards, scroll on for more crystal clear decor inspiration from real weddings.

1. Signage

Looking to incorporate helpful signage but worried about it looking too clunky?

Not only is clear signage chic and unexpected, but it's also perfect for showcasing the surrounding space.

2. Table Numbers

Need a fun way to add a modern touch to your reception that won't clash with your vibe?

Regardless of your style, acrylic table numbers are a top-notch way to combine function with style as they won't distract from the rest of your tablescape.

3. Seating Charts

Can't decide on a color scheme for your paper goods? Up the wow-factor and skip the hassle of printing with a barely-there seating chart to help guests find their seats.

We love this one with classic calligraphy by our friendor White Ink Calligraphy!

4. Furniture

Why not spruce up your cocktail hour and create the illusion of more space with modern lucite accent furniture?

We love this coffee table and ottoman for a fun twist on cozy chic on The Bell Tower's patio.

Acrylic seating, otherwise known as ghost chairs, encourage fluidity and add contemporary style wherever they are placed.

Great for visually enlarging any space, they beautifully reflect natural light and pair perfectly with any color for additional brownie points.

5. Escort Cards

Add a little contemporary flair to this essential wedding element with minimal yet striking lucite escort cards.

Not only are they an updated alternative to printed paper cards, but they're super easy to cut into whatever shape your heart desires for added customization.

6. Decor

Plastic makes perfect! Acrylic candlesticks, vases, table number holders, picture frames, & more. Lucite decor is a versatile way to add style to any wedding. Bonus? They won't break. So rest assured, if Uncle Joe has one too many, his butter fingers won't break a thing.
