Last October, Ashley and Kelly said “I do” surrounded by close family and friends during their intimate rustic wedding ceremony and reception at The Bridge Building.

This pair met online and quickly realized they were a perfect match through their shared love of great films, East Nashville, and their pets. After some time together as a couple, Ashley and Kelly went on a long and relaxing beach vacation and got engaged on the shore!

When it came time to start wedding planning, they wanted to stay out of the spotlight and share time with their friends and family, but their easygoing personalities and sweet romance couldn’t help but shine through.

Before both Ashley and Kelly’s moms walked each of them down an aisle, which was lined with blush and ivory rose petals, they spent some time getting ready—their attire was perfectly buttoned-up but down-to-earth—and then exchanged heartfelt letters they wrote each other expressing their forever love.

After a sweet and intimate daytime ceremony where the almost-newlyweds exchanged vows in front of a stunning view of downtown Nashville, our main space was flipped for a reception that featured plenty of string lights, a small dance floor, and a collection of round guest tables adorned with smoke-colored linens and romantic floral arrangements in gold vases. They were made with pink peonies, thistles, blush and ivory roses, lush greenery, and succulents.

Guests then enjoyed a dinner of balsamic grape and apple salad, buttermilk fried chicken, sautéed vegetables, four cheese macaroni, and white cheddar mashed potatoes. Delish!

As the easygoing day of fun, love, and laughter came to a close, Ashley and Kelly opened one of the biggest wedding gifts we’ve ever seen. While 2020 may have been a challenging time to hold a wedding, Ashley and Kelly’s guests made everyone laugh with a giant Uhaul box filled with the pandemic essentials: toilet paper and cleaning products!

MICRO WEDDINGS

A TOP 2020 WEDDING TREND

Micro weddings may be a term you're seeing a lot of lately, but it's not just because of the pandemic. Can you believe as early as last year, micro weddings were predicted to be a trend for 2020? Spooky! Who knew they would quickly move from just a trend to a necessity.

So what's a micro wedding? A micro wedding is an intimate gathering with your closest family and friends. VIPs only, please!

Planning a wedding is a major task with a major investment. One of the easiest ways to save on wedding expenses is to trim your guest list, which is leading more and more modern couples to reconsider their large wedding.

Scroll on for a few reasons we're currently crushing on micro weddings!

More Venue Options

When planning a micro wedding, you want to keep your guest list small, less than 50 guests to be exact, which makes your venue options almost limitless.

We can't help but shout out our favorite venues, The Bridge Building and The Bell Tower, when expressing the importance of finding that perfect location. But if it's not the main space of The Bell Tower or the rooftop of The Bridge Building, then explore other locations like a garden or the cafe where you had your first date. Finding a location that suits you and your significant other best is easier when you're no longer limited by a venue's capacity.

A Low-Pressure Guest List

Keeping your guest list small will take the pressure off both you and your significant other. Say goodbye to inviting anyone solely out of obligation and focus on inviting your immediate family members and your closest friends.

Decadent Dinner

A more intimate dinner with your loved ones might leave you with a little extra wiggle room in your budget for a more specialized menu. Think steak instead of chicken!

Right now, as a precaution, we recommend a plated dinner service for your special occasion instead of a buffet or interactive stations. This allows you more control over the look and feel of your menu, as well as being a more efficient way to serve the meal.

It's All in the Details

Prioritizing your nearest and dearest allows you to allocate your investment toward the smaller details. Don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild! Choose your decor, florals, seating, and more based on your wants and needs, not on your unlimited guest count.

Upgrade to specialty linens, get the chic furniture you always wanted, or opt for a premium bar. Try adding meaningful touches that may not be included in a larger-scale wedding, whether that's leaving a personalized note at every place setting or including activities in your night. Micro weddings are all about the intimate experience with your closest friends and family.

An Alternative to Cancelling or Postponing

If you're faced with the decision to cancel or reschedule your wedding, a micro wedding is a great alternative to postponing until 2021. A small guest count will help keep your friends and family safe while also letting the celebration continue.
